    • Veterinarian
Dr. Desveaux completed her undergraduate degree in Chemistry at Dalhousie University before earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2018. She has experience in both general practice and emergency medicine, working in Ontario and Nova Scotia before finding her home here at Uniacke Lakes Animal Hospital.
Her passion for veterinary medicine began with a lifelong love of animals, especially dogs, and was inspired by Jane Goodall and her volunteer work with Hope for Wildlife. Today, what she enjoys most is helping strengthen the incredible bond between people and their pets, making sure they have as many happy, healthy years together as possible.
One of Dr. Desveaux’s favourite things about working at Uniacke Lakes Animal Hospital is the amazing team. She values working alongside people who genuinely care about one another and the families they serve, and she always strives to bring a positive attitude to every day.
At home, Dr. Desveaux shares life with four rescue pets, each with an incredible story:
🐶 Ryder, her adventurous Lab/Shepherd mix, has been her loyal hiking and running buddy ever since they met through the junior surgery program while she was in veterinary school.
🐱 Pippy arrived as a neglected surrender and has since transformed into a beautiful, fluffy queen living her very best life.
🐱 Phoebe decided life as a barn cat wasn’t for her and found her forever family instead. She’s now the household’s resident troublemaker.
🐱 Bo, once a battered stray with a rough past, has blossomed into the sweetest, goofiest companion.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Desveaux enjoys hiking with Ryder, spending time with her wife and daughter, travelling to Prince Edward Island to visit family, gardening, reading, and listening to music and podcasts. She also plays the piano and has personally cared for one diabetic cat and two diabetic dogs, giving her an extra appreciation for the dedication many families show when caring for pets with chronic health conditions.

    Dr. Stephanie Hayward

    • Veterinarian
Dr. Stephanie Hayward has been practicing small animal medicine since graduating from the Atlantic Veterinary College in 2012. Originally from Newfoundland, Stephanie grew up in Lower Sackville and completed three years of undergraduate studies at NSAC before pursuing her veterinary degree.
Early in her career, Stephanie took the opportunity to explore different areas of veterinary medicine and travelled across the country, working in practices from St. John’s, Newfoundland, to Calgary, Alberta. Along the way, she developed a passion for small animal medicine, with particular interests in soft tissue surgery and ethical breeding, including health testing and genetics.
For Stephanie, one of the most rewarding parts of being a veterinarian is working with clients who want to learn and be involved in their pet’s care. She believes every pet is an individual, and that every family has their own priorities, beliefs, and financial considerations when it comes to veterinary care. Her goal is to build trusting relationships with clients, provide education, and work together to find the best plan for each pet and family.
Outside of the hospital, Stephanie spends much of her time with her dogs and her young daughter. She is passionate about dog sports and actively trains and competes in agility, conformation, and rally obedience. She has also dabbled in scent work, barn hunt, and sprinter. Her canine crew includes Phineas and Maebh, two half-sibling Soft-Coated Wheaten Terriers who have both competed in agility; Wolfram, a Miniature Poodle who introduced Stephanie to the world of conformation and ethical breeding; and Poppy, a Toy Poodle she bred with the guidance of a mentor in the United States.
When she isn’t training, competing, grooming, or spending time with her family, Stephanie enjoys knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, and reading. She jokes that she hates sitting still—she completed cross-stitch projects throughout veterinary school and now keeps her hands busy with knitting or crochet while watching TV or attending webinars.
