    • Manager / Registered Veterinary Technician

Emily graduated in 2005 from the Nova Scotia Agricultural College with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences and a diploma in Animal Health Technology.  She began her Veterinary Technician career in her hometown of Annapolis Royal and then joined our sister hospital of Eastern Passage Village Veterinary Hospital in October of 2005.  Over her time there Emily developed a special interest in surgery, anesthesia, and dentistry.  She enjoys it so much that she also teaches dentistry techniques to both Technicians and Veterinarians!

In 2014 Emily stepped away from full time work at the veterinary hospital to peruse training and a career as an Acupuncturist, but always stayed working part time as a veterinary technician.  When Dr. Pollard announced she would be opening the Uniacke Lakes Animal Hospital Emily jumped at the chance to work with her full time again and will be working as the Hospital Manager.

Emily lives in Eastern Passage with her pets Callie the dog and Conan the cat.

Rita grew up in Toronto but a few years ago, along with her husband, children and a car load of animals, made the trip to Nova Scotia. The family landed in Mount Uniacke where they live on a small hobby farm. Rita has a keen interest in all things to do with viruses, parasites and medicine. When not tending to her animals, she can be found reading research papers and delving into the exciting world of microbiology.
It has been a few years since Rita has worked in animal hospitals but she was exceptionally keen to return to the field when a new hospital was announced in her new home community. You will most often find Rita at the front desk assisting clients and their pets.
